Weird Weather in Austin

If you live here, then I probably don’t have to tell you it got a little crazy last night.

This is the third (fourth?) time it’s hailed in about as many weeks. The pieces were pretty big – I saw about golf-ball-sized chunks falling and smashing on the street (and apparently through windows of some homes). Two transformers blew out next to my house, with loud booms and flashes. Luckily there was no damage to our house or cars, but a short drive down the street revealed downed trees, a couple of which flattened the roofs of cars, and streets littered – in some cases completely covered with – debris. I snapped a couple of pics on my way to work this morning (excuse the quality – I just got this camera, and I was also driving while shooting):
